a little about me.

my deepest joys: Jesus, meeting new people, coffee, tending my garden, hiking outside, the Church, discovering new shades of green, good stories and books, escaping to the mountains when I can, reading and writing poems, and captured memories that warm my heart

When I am not snapping pictures, you’ll find me sipping coffee, working at a non-profit, and planning a wedding to my dear fiancé.

Below you can find some more info about why taking pictures matters to me.

Hello!

I am so glad you’re here and considering an opportunity to capture whatever season of life you may find yourself in currently! I love stories and think that photos capture glimpses of the story of your life. I love capturing a moment that truly says who you are. Here are a few things to know about me:

I live in Aurora, IL, where I have fallen in love with the people and stories of this place. Six years here and I am thankful for this home!

I work vocationally at a non-profit, social services agency that provides holistic care for the immigrant and refugee community here. These neighbors of mine teach me about welcoming each day.

I feel most at home when I am outside exploring or sipping coffee - especially when I am doing those two things at the same time! The midwest has always been home, but I am a mountains and coast kinda girl. Escaping to the PNW or California is something I am usually daydreaming about most days. Around here, I go in search of the beauty still around us, especially anywhere that is very green. I have an epic soft spot for trees, moss, and dusty miller plants.

Over the years, I’ve grown to love clean eating of whole foods and living an eco-friendly lifestyle. You’ll sometimes see on the blog a recipe or latest practice that I want to share. I’ve found that simplicity and intentionality with what I eat, what I use to clean my home, and the various products I use throughout my day keep me rooted and more mindful in life. On any given day, you can find me often eating something green and creating a new essential oils blend.

I think the world of kids. l believe they have far more to teach us than they are often given credit for, and I adore capturing the personalities and emotions kids exude. Kids have helped awaken my own imagination and creativity, and I am so glad to call many kids my friends. Capturing those precious childhood moments is one of my utmost priorities when photographing families.

My first ever camera was a film camera that was bright pink and had a Barbie sticker on it (I wasn’t even a big fan of pink or Barbies). My parents let me go through as many rolls of film as I wanted during our first family vacation to Alaska. In one of my childhood albums, I still have a blurry picture of an orca I captured.

Photography has been teaching me about creativity - as a creature with a Creator, I find joy in capturing other created creatures for who they are in that moment. I love what a simple image can communicate as the people in it interact with the world around them and appreciate the value of looking back on those moments through an image. I think captured moments give us a chance to tell a story, a story of who you are and the moment of life you’re in.

I started capturing families casually in 2018 and then realized just how much fun it could be in the spring of 2019 when I began booking families more regularly. As I have gotten to know and capture more families, I have been learning how to give families better and better images. I am so eager to continue learning this art and am abundantly thankful for the families I get to work with each session.
